The pre-war houses here flaunt green courtyards. Sunnyside’s history goes back to the early 1700’s. Back then, the area was mainly farmland sitting atop a hill, and surrounded by immense marshlands.

With the construction of Queensboro Bridge in the 1990s, came a major transformation in Sunnyside into a bedroom kind of community. By the time it was getting to the mid-1930s, a 6-story apartment was erected; a superb building that helped to define the area’s Skyline. There was a raised 7-train platform that helped to provide easy access all through the boroughs.

Plans are underway to establish an LIRR station in Sunnyside, a move that will ease commuting even further. The Queens Boulevard can be found under the 7 train, where an array of pubs, coffee shops, and restaurants line the Sunnyside streets.

Predominantly, Sunnyside houses are pre-war homes that have that rustic vibe. However, there are tons of modern high rises and condos, ideal for single families as well as multi-families. If you prefer modern establishments, be sure to head over to the Sunnyside Gardens found near 39th Avenue for your ideal house. The BQE and Long Island Expressway intersect in Sunnyside. This makes the neighborhood a great choice for any home buyers who wish to travel via vehicles to NYC and beyond.

Some of the most common attributes here include Zen gardens, chic restaurants, sleek boutiques, Greek architecture, industrial lofts, stunning archways, pre-war apartments, playgrounds, parks, green spaces, houses of worship, schools, theaters, dog parks, urban shopping centers, and more. The Sunnyside community is friendly and welcoming, appealing to young families and professionals seeking a quiet escape from bustling city life.

Take time to wind off at the elevated train overlooking new restaurants, traditional Irish pubs, and mom-and-pop shops found in the heart of Sunnyside. This residential area is also a foodies’ haven. You can grab some farm fresh produce at the local farmers’ market. Sunnyside also features amazing dog parks where you can spend some quality time with your furry buddy.

Sunnyside has a unique character to it; while the Manhattan Vistas bring a NY vibe, the myriad of outdoor spaces and scenic landscapes bring the small-town charm. This is one of those residential areas that offer residents the best of both worlds.
